Even though we discussed the possible meaning of this passage in class, the first time I read this line, I immediately thought of that lady in the harbor.  I took this picture myself, back in November from the ferry on the way to Ellis Island from the Statue of Liberty.  If you all haven’t been to either the Statue or Ellis Island yet, do so – you won’t regret it.
